Lots of beautiful quilts coming across my table this month! I have really enjoyed this, but it makes my “to do list” a lot longer.

Here are two adorable quilts I put together and quilted on my Statler, Sweet Dreams Studio pattern. Then I appliqued on the felt heart with my machine! Love the Statler as it does everything.

Met some wonderful people Friday, came to look at the Gammill Statler and see it in motion.  If you are in the area and desire to see a demo, I would love to show you some of what the Statler can do.  If you have a Gammill already, retro fits are easy enough to do, I spoke to Glen and he has a 1994 Classic and the Statler added!  He said it has never sewn this great.

I have been busy with the batting special I ran this month. Have gotten in a few more than 10 quilts, but gave everyone a discount! It has been great to be able to get in several quilts each week and have them finished within the next week, so if you need a quilt quilted quickly this is the best time of the year for that.

Wanted to share some of the things I have been busy with the past couple weeks.  I was able to finish “It’s in the Bag” quilt, by Buggy Barn. It went to our Granddaughter Jeanette, she loves it.  Now I’m starting my next Granddaughter quilt “Crazy Hearts” another Buggy Barn quilt, Josie, Jeanette’s sister will be the next on the list of Grandchildren to get the “big Girl or Boy” quilt.  I’m wondering if I will do all Buggy Barn quilts for these quilts, I’m enjoying the process.

Max and I went to Quilt Corner last Saturday for a Scissor Sharpening session.  I took Elly our oldest Grandchild and a Featherweight for her to sew on, she so enjoyed it, little to much as she sewed the wrong sides together and we had to frog them out!  Had a tip from another quilter about the guide from my Viking fits on the FW, so she used that and had the best seams ever. Ric and Max have my old FW’s working so nice… can’t wait for the “girls” to come and sew with me soon.

I have a new page on my site, actually I have changed a couple of pages.  Just to update my website and update some of the things going on with our family. Max and Ric are beginning a new venue.  Max had work all summer on a farm, it was a character building summer as he worked for a farmer to help him out, no pay (he thought), but he faithfully did the farming  and mowing his lawns.  When the corn was sold Max was paid, and he purchased the scissor sharpener.  This is a learning experience as the book and the dvd is the classroom.  Many neighbor scissors later Max is sharpening as a business.

Today Max was at our local quilt shop and did some customer sharpening.  I was proud of him when he saw the first left hand scissors, he pulled out the manual and looked up the procedure.  He figured out a scissors when the bolt wasn’t working the way he thought it should, he worked on it and fixed the issue. Think I probably made him nervous, I hovered over him.

Some questions one may ask and the answers I would provide.

• How do I package a quilt to be mailed or shipped?  The way you ship a quilt is to first make sure it is all folded neatly,you can fold the backing and top together if you would like. I would then find a ZipLock bag (at Walmart) that is their XXL, put inside, and you can literally sit on the quilt in a bag and squeeze all the air out. Package it, remembering to put a http://suezquilts.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/suezquilts_business_order_test1.pdf  in the package completely filled out.
• Should I insure the package? Yes if you would like, and let me know the return insurance amount.
• Mailing label? Please address it to Sue Tuma, 24653 CTH X, Cashton WI 54619  no mention of quilt in the label
• Cost of mailing vs UPS? It is sometimes less to go UPS, if there is a large package it would be more economical. Size is always an issue.  If you are in our area here WI MN and the surrounding states Speedy is another option.
• What happens when my quilt arrives? First, if you are shipping, please email me, I watch for your quilt to arrive, and then email you to say “the quilt is here and safe!”.  I then hang it and attach the order form to it.
• Return shipping? When I return the quilt or quilts, I usually use the same shipping you have used, or if indicated I will ship the least expensive method. Insurance is up to you, but I usually put some on.

When your quilt arrives. Please give me an email suezquilts@centurytel.net so I know. This is the best time for me, hearing your quilt has arrived and how you like it. I never tire of the first thoughts.

This is a brief summary of Shipping a quilt to a longarmer.  As a Long arm quilter I want to care for your quilt as if it were my own. Actually I have a few of my own hanging next to my customer quilts.  Drop me an email if you have questions.

The Buggy Barn purse quilt is called, It’s in the Bag (I think) This is the quilt I made for my Granddaughter, who will be thrilled that I’m finished with it, just need to sew on the yo yo’s and sew down the binding.  The yo yo’s are attached with  pins in the photos.  Pieced the quilt on my Treadle, and put the borders on with my Featherweight and quilted it with my Gammill Statler, there is nearly 100 yrs difference in the ages of these machines. Love each one of them.

The other 2 quilts are from customers, I didn’t get good pics of either one, windy days here in WI. The heart quilt is quilted heavily with a heart fill and it fits this Valentine type quilt, love the browns and pinks.  The Red/Green quilt doesn’t show the quilting as much as I like, the pattern is called 8 pointed star, it gives a secondary quilting pattern. So taking a simple pieced quilt and putting up a level because of the texture of the quilting. Both are lovely quilts, I enjoy seeing and quilting all of these beauties.

I still have a couple spaces available for the chance to earn a free batting or 50-20% off batting for the month of January, so get those quilts in to me as soon as possible.

Two years in this room I needed to update. My sister passed this cabinet on to me and it works great with all my thread. I’m amazed at the amount of thread I have, the colors are beautiful set up behind the glass.  I have a wonderful husband and son that put shelves up, I couldn’t have gotten them this level.  The shelf above our old radiator deflects the heat and serves as a great spot to store my featherweights.  I enjoy the paint colors, and after I hung up the purse quilt I saw why, these were the two colors I choose for my room, although the purple I choose looks a lot lighter than the one in the quilt.  The purse quilt is for our granddaughter Jeanette, she is so excited.
